It’s a cardinal sin to leave money on the table. That’s one of the things I learned in 24 years as a union staffer.

And I think the same applies here. There’s some very affluent, well-placed donors willing to kick in half a million dollars to match anything donated today, June 13, to this campaign to fight cancer.

Tomorrow, if they’ve not given it away, they’ll use it to hire a consultant to cut jobs, lawyers to block a union certification bid or just hand it to their shareholders as a dividend.

So I’m trying to get them to give it away today. To kids like Simi who’s spent most of the last year in hospital being treated for acute myeloid leukemia. Or a parade of 1400 others who develop the disease each year.

I also have family who’ve cared for a child with the disease and I’m raising money so parents can have more of the support they deserve.

The money benefits Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital Foundation. Donations are tax-receipted and can be anonymous.

I’m two thirds of the way to my 1500km riding goal. Be my tailwind, won’t you? Don’t leave anything on the table.
