Download “The Price of Oil” Billy Bragg’s anti-war broadside

Billy Bragg. My idol. Gone digital. Back in the 80's and 90's he used to release topical ditties on 45 and on tape, and they would get around, eventually, but more often than not people would hear them as a redux on the latest outrage Margaret Thatcher had visited on people.

Billy Bragg. My idol. Gone digital. Back in the 80’s and 90’s he used to release topical ditties on 45 and on tape, and they would get around, eventually, but more often than not people would hear them as a redux on the latest outrage Margaret Thatcher had visited on people.

But now, in the age of the internet you can listen to his broadsides while there’s still time to do something about it.

Last night at the Billy Bragg concert at Barrymore’s, Billy sang the song mentionned in the title, and then went and got a bunch of RCDs out and threw them into the audience, asking people to rip them and spread the song around.

I was way at the back so I couldn’t get one of the CDs, but it didn’t take long for an MP3 to come my way. Someone named freakboy created this MP3, which you can get from his site, but rogers.com’s bandwidth meter is a bit stingier than mine so I have the file available from here.
