It’s amazing that they’ve found the hubris to throw several hundred pages of non-budget, non-monetary legislation into the budget bill. It’s all about gutting environmental protection regulation – nothing to do with the budget.

Nevertheless when the federal government came up with the notion of the ecoEnergy program the environmentalist and social justice in me (which is, I’ll admit, rather a large part of me) was actually stunned at how much sense it made. Natural Resources Canada is eliminating 100 jobs, Postmedia’s Kathryn May reports. Ministry spokespeople say the positions being cut were those managing “sunsetting” programs and that there are no new decreases to service cuts.
