Hurt locker: CSI goes to Iraq and sweats a lot
This must have been a really bad year for movies. Or maybe the Academy wanted to reward a director for making a low-budget film where normally one would have expected them to blow more than the GNP of a populous, earthquake-ravaged Caribbean island to make 90 minutes of eye candy. Or maybe they thought ‘this is the year that we finally give best picture to a woman’.
Feeling bad for Saddam Hussein
Okay, not really all that bad, but it does make me a little queasy thinking of Saddam Hussein being hanged (too many hyperlinks to think about) because I think he was singled out for punishment where others do the same thing he did with impunity.
British troops blow up Iraqi police station – huh?
This would seem to be wierd. CBC is reporting that British troops just attacked and destroyed an Iraqi police station in Basra.
Download "The Price of Oil," Billy Bragg’s anti-war broadside
Billy Bragg. My idol. Gone digital. Back in the 80′s and 90′s he used to release topical ditties on 45 and on tape, and they would get around, eventually, but more often than not people would hear them as a redux on the latest outrage Margaret Thatcher had visited on people.
The no-preemptive strike on Iraq petition is a hoax
Don’t get me wrong. I can’t stand the idea that the United States may (once again) attack Iraq. And I’m in favour of many sorts of actions to oppose war on Iraq. But e-petitions aren’t one of them. And the unicwash petition is a hoax.
