Alterna has updated their online banking
Fair is fair. I trash them when they’re bugging me, I should praise them when they do good. A while back I posted about how Alterna’s online banking made me waste a lot of time at tax time, when it could be really helpful.
And lo and behold they’ve made some changes. And the news is good. You can see monthly reports. You can search your transactions by description.
But you still can’t go back more than 12 months. And they don’t really ever tell you that if you key in a wrong date range. You just have to infer that from some of the other form elements which – I presume – generate automatically the valid choices for dates.
And their developer needs to read Luke Wroblewski. And learn AJAX.
And that poor woman is still pushing that damn car.

I went crazy on them when they messed with online banking over the Thanksgiving weekend and were down for, like, a week.

Alterna is way behind Vancity in terms of services and professionalism. I've been force to move to TD in Toronto since Citizensbank is closing down in couple of months. So sad. I wanted to go to Alterna, any Ontario credit union really, but couldn't. Why is this? Why can't Vancity teach Ontario credit unions how to be successful financially and offer great service and rates???? Why?

I too wish Alterna would change that picture of the young, busty, sweaty woman leaning over the hot red car. Too much!
