Napless in Ottawa
For the second time in a couple of weeks Mallory went napless today. I can’t quite figure out why. But I know what we’re in for.
At easter we tried to nap her at her grandparents’ place and it didn’t work. She had some ‘quiet time’ but never slept. We then faced a series of total meltdowns so severe that both parents declared defeat and we plunked her down in front of the DVD player at around 5:30. By 6pm she was sound asleep. She stayed that way until the next morning.
In a way, it was great. Irene and I watched a movie and got in a lot of grown up conversation. But the cost was very high.
The no-nap was easily explained then. Unfamiliar surroundings, her cousins stomping about upstairs, the excitement of the easter egg hunt.
This time her morning was pretty banal. Maybe the excitement of her play date with F, one of her friends from child care? No idea. Could she be transitioning to her new, napless life?
I’ve got time to write this because Irene’s taken Mallory for a walk to go get ice cream.
Go big or go home, I suppose.
