Co-sleeping: not ending any time soon

After spending weeks in anticipation of her new bed arriving, (“When my bed comes I’m going to sleep all by myself”) Mallory now ascends the stairs to bed saying, “I only want to sleep in daddy’s bed.”

So much for that.

Mallory was at first excited to jump on her bed, put her new sheets and pillows on, arrange them, rearrange them and repeat, but when bedtime came, she whimpered that she didn’t like her bed. But she eventually hunkered down and went to sleep. I joined her later and all went as one might expect.

That was night one. Night two went much the same, although her protests were much louder.

And yesterday, prior to her nap, we had a meltdown/standoff over peeing before nap. When I finally relented and went with her up to bed, she refused to sleep in her bed. I couldn’t see any reason to make her sleep in her bed, given that nothing else about the routine was going to change, so we went to my room.

Last night, today’s nap and tonight – all the same: “I only want to sleep in daddy’s bed.” As I said before, I’m not sure I mind if it takes a while longer to wean her off her bed.

And it’ll mean we have another bed for my family when they show up in December. I wonder if Mallory feels a bid defeated. I don’t think so.
