Wal Mart are scum
I applaud the UFCW for their persistence. But Wal Mart is just shameless.
There really has to be a change to the way labour law works. It has to be possible to grant certification to a wider group of people so that the company would have to weigh whatever its actual anticipated cost of paying a decent wage (as opposed to their rubbish rhetoric) would be against the cost of exiting a market – be it a province, a city, whatever.
It just appalls me that money can so easily trump the rights of a group of people to organize to improve their lives.
I just wish there was some sort of positive change in the offing. But with Jean Charest firmly installed in Québec City and Stephen Harper in Ottawa again, I just don’t see it.
