Clear margins, foggy day

The pathology report on my dad’s colonoscopy came back with clean margins, which means his surgeon is recommending only more frequent ‘scoping’. Meaning: no surgery, no chemo.

This is a relief to me. Now all we have to deal with (for the moment) is the prostate issue. (His is swollen – mine feels fine, in case I needed to clarify that)

He’s going in for a biopsy early next week, and I’ll know more after that.

I’m less worried about the prostate thing. It seems like it’s mostly very survivable. And even the treatment seems eminently more manageable than other sorts of cancer – maybe even unfairly so.

I’d spin yarns about all the worrying, the grey-skying I did, the nightmare scenarios I laid out and what not but there are so many people out there who’ve done all that thinking and had to carry out all the plans that I really don’t think I warrant any sympathy.

I think I’ll leave it at phew.
