Self-righting infant – the movie

Mallory at eleven months

Each day seems to bring new milestone, or, rather, mile pebble. Today she can (unfortunately) climb up onto the glider chair on her own. Yesterday she couldn’t.

This past week we’ve discovered that (much to her father’s dismay) she’s quite the carnivore. She spurns all manner of cereal, vegetable, lentil, bean, but goes straight for the chicken and beef we lay out onto her tray.

For a while she would eat similarly cubed bits of veggie paté, but I think she’s on to us.

Despite my vegetarian misgivings, it’s probably good that she’s a meat fan. We discovered recently that she’s got low iron (common in babies that are slow to take to solid food), and whether I like it or not, meat is the easiest way to get iron into a body.

Just don’t ask me to play the “you feed me, I feed you” game with the stuff.

This is almost better than your trip reports! Thanks for the news from the parenting front.

Best wishes to you and Irene.
