Stittsville via North Gower

What a difference the weather can make. I spent most of this 122km ride flying along at 32km/hr or greater. Sunny, 18 degrees and no wind to speak of. An absolutely glorious day. I didn’t even care how many times I got lost.

Unlike my last ride, characterized by head wind-driven despair, this was longer, but it practically felt refreshing. Okay. That’s a bit of a stretch.

I headed out along Riverside/River Road, went west on 6 once I got to the Swan, then deeked west, past North Gower to Richmond. Then to Stittsville. Then seemingly interminable navigation breaks to wiggle through the maze of huge, traffic-laden roads, along Eagelson to Richmond Road, then the Ottawa River Parkway and home.

Averaged closed to 30km/h. About 4 and a half hours on the bike or something like that.

And to think I wasn’t going to ride today. Lovely day, but I have an absolute shitload of stuff to do and, having wasted yesterday up to my elbows in the entrails of a failed server, it wasn’t going to get any better.

But then I looked at the Weather Network site and saw that it was supposed to be windless.

I was suited up and out the door.
